Transportation

You can get to Block Island by ferry from Point Judith, RI all year round and during the season from New London, CT; Montauk, NY and Newport, RI. New England Airlines flies hourly out of Westerly, RI. There are plenty of taxis available on Block Island. Click on the image above to see a complete list.

Getting To and Around Block Island

BY FERRY – Ferry boats sail from Point Judith, RI to Block Island year round. The trip takes about one hour. There are also ferries during the season from New London, CT, Newport, RI and Montauk, NY. All ferries land in Old Harbor except the Viking Line out of Montauk that lands in New Harbor. During the season there is also a high speed ferry out of Point Judith that takes about one half hour.

BY AIR – New England Airlines, our primary scheduled air carrier, leaves the state airport in Westerly, RI hourly. The flight takes about 15 minutes. There are chartered flights available from other airports. In case of inclement weather, planes may not fly. It is wise to allow time to reach the ferry if necessary.
